LA Fashion Show!

The first debut of our 2008 Fall Collection!

the invite goes out!

save money...cut yourself

in efforts to save the money that we dont have, we opted to cut the fabric ourselves, half way through the long process our seamstress offers us a little device that looks like a pizza cutter that cut the fabric in about 10 seconds..a little late. Bobby was the only one allowed to use it-the girls were promoted to larger scissors.

save money..wash yourself

we learned to fold things after drying them..if you dont they get wrinkled and you have to 1) put it in the bathtub 2) wring them out until you cant feel your hands 3)put them into trash bags 4) sneak them into the laundry mat and hope that the wrinkles come out

TAX..what's that?

we are an LLC, with that comes $800 a year in tax, except we formed in November making us pay not only for 2007 but also 2008! kick us in the butt

Go Green

the fabrics have been chosen-Pickering International manufactures all organic fabric from Turkey, it may be the more expensive route but its the right route

CHINESE LAUNDRY

thank you to Diana's sister who had a friend over at Chinese Laundry. They sponsored us with their shoes...we made out like bandits!

perfection

perfection...granted that each button was a small fortune, three weeks to go!

sewing ourselves...thats a novel idea

back to cutting and sewing old school style, let into the hours-the style gods gave us inspiration

the price was right

The price was right, but the clothes were not...back to the drawing board...almost half of the samples were disasters...lost in translation...try try again

WTF...are you crazy woman!

We left Carla's thinking that this women really wanted to help us. How naive were we! We got the invoice for the 22 samples...get ready for it...$17,500!! After minor heart attacks and the need for smelling salts we found plan B. Kein Hifashion, would she be our savior?

Manufacturer

With our 5 bolts of fabric we all crammed into Daina's TT, which has seatbelts for four, but we think the back seats are for pets. Raquel was nominated to sit in the back as she was most comfortable straddling the seat in front of her. We drove the hour drive in traffic, whats LA without traffic, to Cerritos to meet with Carla. The meeting was long, but good.
